A Physician’s reputation is central to the success of their practice and their ability to attract new patients. However, in the Digital Age, bad news travels fast and the impact of negative information can have devastating affect on business.

The easy access to information online is changing how people research healthcare providers and how they use that information to make their decisions. When someone seeks a healthcare provider, negative information posted on the internet can show up in natural search results whether they’re looking for it or not and have a profound impact on a Physicians reputation. Most Web users won’t dwell on whether the claims are factual, they’ll simply look elsewhere.

Your marketing plan should detail how you will maintain visibility and contact with current patients over the following year. At a minimum, patients should receive something from your office quarterly, although market research suggests that current patients should have contact with your office 12 to 16 time a year!

Contacts include phone calls, cards, appointments, newsletters, personalized letters, mailers, etc. Marketing will be far more effective and less costly for those professionals who develop and maintain an accurate database of current patients.
